Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
